PROJECT 1
Familiar Storylines in News Coverage of Crime

This project is important to my growth as a Media Scholars student because it is a representation of using what we learn in class to give a presentation on a certain issue in society. My group and I researched how news coverage can portray negative stereotypes against certain groups of people. This project took a lot of time to research and communicate, and it shows our growth in our teamwork, research and presentation skills.

PROJECT 2
Media, Self & Society Advertisement

This project consisted of creating an ad for the Media, Self & Society program and applying William Leiss' cultural frames. Creating this ad gave me a better understanding on how advertising has framed the relationships between consumers and the product. I realized that I enjoyed creating ads and other posts in order to facilitate and manage social media presence, and I quickly used these newfound interests to start managing my youth ministry's social media presence. This project helped me find new interests and gave me a better understanding on how vital social media ads are to a product.

PROJECT 3
Do Good Media Project â€‹

Our class did this project last semester, but it is still one of the projects that really stand out to me because it sparked my interest in social media. In all of my years at church, I have worked in the media department creating slides, posts, handling video and camera angles, and son on. I grew a passion for media and this project allowed me to use my creative skills to create a series of tik toks that could help any number of people dealing with the pandemic. These tik toks were to help anyone create fun ways to deal with the stay-at-home order by making different dishes! It was fun to create this project and it helped spark a new passion for managing social media presence that I didn't know I had.
